CARE INTRUCTIONS

CARE INSTRUCTIONS

Washing

Hand washing is always kinder to handmade ceramics as the chemicals in dishwashers can dull glazes over time. My porcelain pottery should be safe to put in the dishwasher however to keep your pottery glazes looking their best I advise hand washing wherever possible.

Oven Use

My ceramics are high fired so are likely to be fine in the microwave unless there is a metallic glaze on them. I advise avoiding using them in the microwave just to be on the safe side.

N.B. Studio pottery uses earthenware clay that is not fired to such a high temperature. This means that it remains porous. The glaze is the waterproofing. If at all damp, this can cause problems in a microwave and vases containing cold water can attract condensation so a coaster should be used under them.

Microwaves

As with all ceramics, avoid thermal shock by not exposing your pottery to rapid temperature changes. Always heat food in ceramics from a cold oven.
