Terms & Conditions

For Classes / Workshops

ALL studio users must read and adhere to the health and safety policy at all times.

N.B. 15 minutes of every session will be directed to cleaning the studio space.

Please be aware that there is NO GUARANTEE that your work will survive firing. All due care is always taken but firings are often up to the kiln Gods!


Non - Attendance

Should you arrive late to class or in the event of non-attendance, we regret that we can neither provide alternative studio time - nor can we swap sessions with additional days or tutors. Classes are at fixed times and days to cover the cost of tuition and the specific tutor who is running that session.

Payment

All payment for classes and workshops is made via our website and include booking fees.

Refunds

In the case of some Masterclasses, a stated, non-refundable and non-transferable deposit will be taken.

Full Refund: We can provide a full refund (minus £5 booking fee) 21 days or more before the start date of said course or workshop.

50% Refund: We will refund 50% of total fees paid (minus £5 booking fee) between 20 - 10 days before the start date of said course or workshop.

No Refund: We provide no refunds 9 days or less before the start date of said course or workshop.

We cannot offer any refund for Clay Talks held at Vessel Ceramics.

*This does not affect your statutory rights.

Additional Material & Firing Costs

Should a student exceed the general allocated allowance of materials provided, There is a small charge for fired work. Please see a member of staff at the end of your session to pay for your glazed work.

Charges for earthenware are as follows (other clays will have specific charges):

  • £5 per 500g

  • £6 per 500g for work with oxide

  • Work that is biscuit fired but not glazed is charged at £2 per 500g

  • Any work wider or taller than 30cm will be charged double.

  • If a student’s work requires additional firings or is of a scale which requires a larger percentage of our kilns, an additional surcharge will be added - details to be decided by Vessel Ceramics.

Firing times

Only name marked work will be biscuit fired. Completed work will be made ready for collection 8 weeks after the course.

We cannot guarantee that work will not be damaged during the kiln firing. We regret that we provide no compensation for this eventuality.

Collecting Work

Work must be collected within 1 month after the kiln firing of your work. Regretfully, we do not have space to store work for extensive periods. Any incomplete work (greenware or bisque) may be disposed of unless otherwise discussed with your tutor. Please arrange collection times with your tutor via email.

Please provide a suitable container and packaging materials when collecting work.

Health and Safety

Vessel Ceramics is committed to providing a healthy and safe environment in which to work and learn. It is of fundamental importance that all students respect all health and safety regulations and familiarise themselves with signage, first aid points and emergency exits whilst in the building. You must respect and adhere to any instruction relating to safe studio practice. Please ask your tutor if there is anything you are uncertain about.

Vessel Ceramics cannot be held responsible for any loss, damage or theft caused to work or personal possessions. Please leave valuable rings & watches at home as they can get lost in clay. Vessel Ceramics cannot be held responsible for any injuries caused by misuse of the studio or equipment.

Equality and Inclusivity

We are committed to maintaining a respectful community where all our students can learn, develop and grow within a dignified and safe place.

Disabilities

Our classes are small so that you have the space and time to really develop your work and enjoy yourself. We aim to create a warm, friendly and creative environment. Should you have a disability or have any specific requirements please do not hesitate to contact us prior to your lesson so we can accommodate you. Unfortunately, our studio space is on the first floor and is inaccessible. The shop / gallery does have wheelchair access.

*Vessel Ceramics reserves the right to suspend or terminate any person from a course if any of the above points are not adhered to or respected.*

For online purchase of products and use of the website

Contract Creation

The steps required to create the contract between you and us are as follows:

1.     You place the order for your products on the website.

2.     We will send to you an order acknowledgement email detailing the products you have ordered. This is not an order confirmation or order acceptance from Vessel Ceramics.

3.     When your product is shipped we will send you a confirmation email of dispatch.

4.     Order acceptance and the completion of the contract between you and us will take place on the dispatch to you of the products ordered.

At our sole discretion, we may refuse to accept or cancel your order. Non-acceptance of an order may be a result of one of the following:

·       The product you ordered being unavailable from stock.

·       Our inability to obtain authorisation for your payment.

·       The identification of a pricing or product description error.

Delivery

Small items will be sent using Royal Mail. Larger items will be sent using courier. Delivery in the UK usually takes 2-3 days.

If items are lost or damaged, you must notify us within fourteen (14) days and we will send a replacement. You may be required to keep the damaged items and their original packaging for 28 days or until compensation has been claimed.

Contract Cancellation

Please note that you are entitled to cancel your contract to purchase goods if you so wish, provided that you exercise your right no longer than seven (7) working days after the day on which you receive the product(s). The product(s) must be packed carefully in the same box they arrived in and returned using Royal Mail first class or by courier.

Please note that your right to return products does NOT apply to products made to your specification unless they are faulty.

Description of Products

Each product purchased is sold subject to its product description which may set out additional conditions related to that product including, without limitation, terms and conditions concerning estimated delivery timescales and warranties.

We will take all reasonable care to ensure that all details, descriptions and prices of products appearing on the website are correct.

We cannot confirm the price of a Product until your order is accepted. See above.

Security of Data

We will take all reasonable care, in so far as it is in our power to do so, to keep the details of your order and payment secure, but in the absence of negligence on our part we cannot be held liable for any loss you may suffer if a third party procures unauthorised access to any data you provide when accessing or ordering from the Website.

Use of the website:

Access

You are provided with access to this Website in accordance with these conditions. Any orders placed by you shall be placed strictly in accordance with these Terms and Conditions.

Information Supplied

You warrant that any personal information which you provide when you purchase goods is true, accurate, current and complete in all respects. You agree not to impersonate any other person or a name that you are not authorised to use.

Indemnity

You agree fully to indemnify, defend and hold us, and our employees, agents and suppliers, harmless immediately on demand, from and against all claims, liability, damages, losses, costs and expenses, including reasonable legal fees, arising out of any breach of the conditions by you or any other liabilities arising out of your use of this website.

Our rights

We reserve the right to:

  • modify or withdraw, temporarily or permanently, this Website (or any part thereof) with or without notice to you; you confirm that we shall not be liable to you or any third party for any modification to or withdrawal of the website.

  • change these conditions from time to time; your continued use of the website (or any part thereof) following such change shall be deemed to be your acceptance of such change. It is your responsibility to check to determine whether the conditions have been changed.

We may provide links to other websites for you to access at your sole discretion. You acknowledge and agree that, as you have chosen to enter the linked website we are not responsible for the availability of such external sites or resources; we do not review or endorse, nor are we responsible or liable for:
