Aims of the course:

A wonderful day of needle felting with celebrate mixed artist Kate Toms, creating a unique sitting dog.   You will be taught the skills and be provided with all the materials to complete something magical to take home with you.  Prepare to be enthralled by Kate's skill and gentle humour.

Needle felting is a simple process – the fleece is shaped with the hand and ‘fixed’ in place using barbed needles. Working with wire and fleece, Kate will take you through the process of making a small sitting dog.

No experience is needed. Should you not complete the project on the day, you will leave with the wherewithal to complete the project at home.

Use of tools is included, and all materials will be provided, but if you wish to do so, you can bring a small piece of ribbon or fabric for your dog’s collar.

Refreshments provided and lunch is available locally.

ABOUT KATE:

Exploring the ordinary and celebrating the humdrum with gentle humour, celebrated mixed media artist Kate Tom’s work is often inspired by her collection of found items.

Working with felt, wire, cloth, leather and wood, Kate creates her company of sculptural 3D characters from her Devon studio.

Also known as an author and illustrator of children’s books, her work is widely exhibited in galleries around the country.
